How to Automate Ticket Assignment in Jira
Automatically adding members to your Jira issues ensures that incoming requests are immediately assigned to the right person on your team. In this guide, we'll walk you through how to set up this automation rule.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Create a New Automation Rule
First, go to the form's edit page in your dashboard.
Navigate to the Automation section from the top menu.
Click to create a new rule.
2. Configure Your Trigger (WHEN)
Pick your trigger from the WHEN menu (e.g., Form Submitted).
(Optional) You can also define a condition or add a delay, if you like, to control exactly when the rule runs.
3. Set Up the Assignment Action (THEN)
Under the THEN menu, select the action you'd like to perform.
Select the member you want to assign to the issue directly from the dropdown list.
4. Publish and Test
Now, let's publish the form and test it out.
Open the live version and fill out the form as a requester.
5. Review the Result in Jira
Now, let’s head over to the Jira project and check it out.
Locate the newly generated issue on your board.
