How to Automatically Tag Tasks in Asana

Automatically adding tags to your Asana tasks helps categorize incoming requests instantly, making filtering and project management much easier. In this guide, we'll walk you through how to set up this automation rule.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Create a New Automation Rule

  • First, go to the form's edit page in your dashboard.

  • Navigate to the Automation section from the top menu.

  • Click to create a new rule.

2. Configure Your Trigger (WHEN)

  • Pick your trigger from the WHEN menu (e.g., Form Submitted).

  • (Optional) You can also define a condition or add a delay, if you like, to control exactly when the rule runs.

3. Set Up the Action (THEN)

  • Under the THEN menu, select the action you'd like to perform.

  • Select the tag you want to automatically add to the task directly from the list.

4. Publish and Test

  • Now, let's publish the form and test it out.

  • Open the live version and fill out the form as a requester.

5. Review the Result in Asana

  • Now, let’s head over to the Asana project and check it out.

  • Locate the newly generated task on your board.
