How to define a custom domain
Custom Domain Setup for User Portal (Notion)
You can connect a custom domain to your User Portal to create a more branded and professional experience instead of using the default Hipporello URL.
By default, your portal is available at: yourportalname.hipporello.net
If you want to use your own domain, you can configure it in two ways:
Subdomain (recommended) → support.yourcompany.com
Root domain → yourcompany.com
Setting Up Your Custom Domain
Go to admin.hipporello.com
Navigate to User Portal → Domain Configuration
Click + Add a Custom Domain
Enter the domain you want to use
Click Add
After adding your domain, Hipporello will provide the DNS information required for the setup.
DNS Configuration
The setup process depends on the type of domain you are connecting.
Subdomain (Recommended)
Example: support.yourcompany.com
For subdomains, you need to create a CNAME record in your DNS provider.
Copy the CNAME value provided by Hipporello
Go to your DNS provider (such as Cloudflare, GoDaddy, or Namecheap)
Create a CNAME record for your subdomain
Paste the value and save
This is the easiest and most commonly used approach.
Root Domain
Example: yourcompany.com
If you prefer to use your main domain, you will need to create an A record.
Copy the IP address provided by Hipporello
Open your DNS provider
Create an A record for your root domain
Paste the IP address and save
Note: Root domains generally do not support CNAME records, which is why an A record is required.
Final Step
After saving your DNS configuration:
Your domain will start pointing to Hipporello
It may take up to 24 hours for the domain to become fully active
