How to Automate Notion Property Updates from Forms
Automating your Notion database properties saves time and keeps your records perfectly structured. By mapping your form inputs directly to Notion properties, you ensure that vital information—like contact details—is instantly organized without manual data entry.
This guide walks you through setting up an automation rule to update your Notion properties automatically when a form is submitted.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Create a New Automation Rule
Log in to your dashboard and select the form you want to edit.
Navigate to the Automation section from the top menu.
Click to create a new rule.
2. Configure Your Trigger (WHEN)
Open the WHEN menu and pick your trigger (e.g., Form Submitted).
(Optional) Define a condition or set a delay if you want the action to run only under specific circumstances or after a certain period.
3. Set Up the Action and Property Mapping (THEN)
Go to the THEN menu and select the Notion action you’d like to perform.
Click on 'Add' to view your available Notion database properties.
Select the property you want to populate from the list (e.g., Email).
Map the data from your form's email input to the corresponding 'Email' property on the Notion item.
4. Publish and Test
Publish the form to make the automation live.
Open the live form, fill in some sample information, and submit the form to test it.
Go to the Notion workspace connected with your Service Desk.
Open the newly created item to review the information.
